Film trailer, or film preview as it is also called, represents an advertisement of the video film that is coming on the screens of cinemas in the nearest time. Such a name for this advertisement - trailer – is explained by the fact that originally previews were shown in cinemas at the end of the exhibiting video. Quite soon movie producers realized that such practice wasn't beneficial as the majority of people left the cinema when the film ended without paying any attention to the advertisements of forthcoming video films. Video previews were moved to the beginning of a seance in the cinema, but the term trailer remained the same.

As a rule the scenes give you a notion about the genre of the video and its principal plotline, while you still don't know what's going to occur in the end. In such a way you spend just a few minutes on watching a movie advertisement and you get an idea whether you're going to like the movie or not. I'm sure you agree that it is much better to spend a minute or two on a movie trailer than to waste two hours on watching the movie you don't find exciting.
